Hair Transplantation
Hair transplantation is a cosmetic surgery to restore natural-looking hairlines and thicken thinning or balding areas. The technique involves moving healthy hair follicles from areas of the scalp with dense, healthy growth to areas where there is little or no hair. Ideally, patients have some remaining natural hair at the back and sides of their head to serve as donor areas. During a treatment session hundreds or even thousands of healthy hairs may be moved to the bald areas. This can have a significant positive impact on self-confidence.서면모발이식
Hair transplantations can be performed using a variety of techniques. The most commonly used method involves lifting a section of the scalp that is hair bearing and shifting this to the continuing bald or thinning area. This can be done either by scalp flaps, in which a strip of tissue with its own blood supply is shifted to the continued bald area or free grafts.
Modern hair transplantation uses small grafts that are very close to the size of the natural hair follicle. These grafts are inserted into slits in the scalp or the recipient site. The slits may be made with a needle or with a surgical tool. The resulting grafts can vary in size, from round grafts that contain 10-15 hairs to mini-grafts that are dissected from the larger grafts and then inserted into slits; micro-grafts containing one to two hairs which are snipped off from a strip of tissue and inserted into slits; or follicular unit grafting, where smaller follicles are grouped together into units of three to four hairs.
During the procedure, a local anaesthetic is often applied to the treated area. In some cases a general anaesthetic is used, especially if the procedure is extensive. Once the grafts are placed they are covered with a dressing to protect them while they heal. During the healing period it is normal for some of the newly transplanted follicles to fall out. This is usually temporary and makes way for new follicles to begin growing in the area.
It is important to have realistic expectations about the results of a hair transplant. While it can significantly improve your appearance, it is not a cure for baldness. Generally, the thicker and denser your existing hair is, the better the result will be. It is also important to understand that multiple hair transplantation sessions will likely be needed to achieve the desired results.
The surgeon will examine your scalp, look for signs of infection and check your blood pressure and heart rate during the treatment session. It is important to inform the surgeon of any medications you are taking that can affect your hair growth (i.e., Propranolol, coumadin and anti-platelet agents).
The doctor will cleanse the scalp and prepare the bald or thinning area for a graft. Tiny cuts are then made in the bald or thinning area, and the healthy hairs will be carefully inserted into these slits. The procedure can take up to 4 hours, depending on how extensive the treatment is.부산탈모병원
