Barriers to Infertility Care at an Infertile Hospital
Infertility is an important problem worldwide, affecting many men and women in developed countries. It has significant implications for public health. It can lead to depression and social stigma, affect relationships and marriages, and negatively impact the overall quality of life of those affected. In addition, infertility can lead to poor pregnancy outcomes and later-onset adult diseases.서울아이앤여성의원
The infertility treatment process is complex, requiring substantial financial, physical and psychological commitments. It also involves a variety of medical tests, interventions and procedures, including the use of drugs and surgical procedures. Additionally, fertility treatments can have side effects and are not always effective. Therefore, it is essential for patients to make informed decisions about their care.
It is also important to consider the barriers that may prevent patients from accessing infertility services. These barriers often vary by patient demographics. For example, patients who seek fertility care are more likely to be older and have lower socioeconomic status than the general population. Additionally, they may face a number of barriers to care, such as a lack of insurance coverage and the high cost of fertility treatments [2].
As such, it is important to identify and understand these barriers in order to improve patient access and care. In this article, we describe the experience of a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) clinic at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, which serves an urban, underserved patient population.
The REI clinic at Bellevue is a full-time, academically affiliated infertility center that provides comprehensive fertility evaluation and management to patients with diverse needs. The majority of the patient population is women who have been trying to conceive for more than one year. Approximately 30% of these women are African American. The remainder of the patient population includes white, Hispanic and other ethnicities.
In addition to evaluating patients for infertility, the REI clinic is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable environment for patients to undergo diagnostic tests. The clinic offers a wide range of diagnostic testing, including ultrasounds and blood work. It also performs minor surgical procedures in a state-of-the-art procedure room.난임병원
The REI clinic also provides urgent consultations for the cryopreservation of eggs and sperm to offset the natural decline in future fertility due to the aging process. It is the leading center in the NYC metro area for fertility preservation. This service is provided to patients with medical conditions that can compromise their future ability to have children (such as cancer, autoimmune disorders and other serious illnesses). It is important for these patients to know that they have options to preserve their fertility. In the future, we hope to expand the scope of this project and include additional infertility clinics across the Bassett Healthcare Network in Cooperstown, Cobleskill, Hamilton, Herkimer, and Oneonta. We also look forward to continuing our efforts to enhance patient access and to educating future generations of physicians about the importance of infertility prevention and diagnosis.
